On Tuesday 22nd March 2016, pupils, parents and teachers at Radyr Primary School raided their piggy banks and sofas for any spare change they could get their hands on.
All of the money collected was displayed in the form of a mountain range on the infant playground because ex- pupil, Catrin Owen will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest mountain) in June of this year. As well as this, the children and parents at the school have been busy baking in a further attempt to raise money by holding a cake sale on the same day. All proceeds will be donated to The Children's Society, which helps children who are living in poverty and neglect. Here is a link to their website: http://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/
Thanks for all of your support.
10 Day Turn Down.
During the autumn term, the Eco Committee took charge of the 10 Day Turn Down. During this time the school competed against other schools in Cardiff to reduce their energy usage. Unfortunately, we didn't win (we think it was due to the pesky builders using all of our energy) but we had some fantastic solar powered chargers for taking part anyway. Here is a picture of us all with our prizes:
We have also been mentioned in the Schools energy newsletter for our efforts. Take a look in the publications section to see it.
Alex was busy installing the new water butts this week with Mr Thomas the school caretaker. Watch your fingers !
