Year 4 Ms E Jones

Our PE / sports days are Wednesday and Thursday.
Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school.

A number of children have misplaced their homework and home spelling books. If this is the case, please check at home, and any other places where they may have been doing homework and send them in if found.

Using Scratch to learn code

This term we have been learning how to code using the programming language Scratch. Lots of the children are very keen to practise at home, which is easy to do by either using the online editor or by downloading the offline editor onto your computer. The project we have started with is Boat Race which you can download below, but there are many others available for free from the Code Club website or Code.org. There is also another programming resource called j2 which is available through your child's Hwb account.

Scratch online editor (used online rather than downloading software onto your device):

Scratch offline editor (doesn't need the internet but requires you to download onto your device):

Welcome back!
We have had a great start to Spring Term, kicking off our exciting topic 'Magic and Mystery' with two immersion days. Below are some photographs from our Forensic Science workshop and our class planning session.

The children will all be bringing their Hwb passwords home this week. Please log-in over the weekend with your child to explore the resources available.

Important

Please could all children who haven't already done so, return their yellow permission forms by December 7th. We will need these to enable the children to visit the church to practise for our carol concert. Many thanks.

A New Landmark for Cardiff

We have been working hard on a special project, to design a new landmark building for Cardiff. After learning about famous buildings and architects, we used our Tasc Wheel to produce our own concepts. Working together in small groups, we narrowed our ideas down to one and refined this into an 'investor' presentation to class. Here are some of the pictures from our pitches.

Abacus Active Learn

Thank you to everyone for trying their logins. Please could you encourage the children to play and complete their games. They are a huge help when developing mental calculation skills. In order for them to be most effective children should attempt to complete bronze, silver and gold levels in one sitting. Please could you monitor the number of unplayed games your child has.

Welcome Back

Welcome back, I hope you are all enjoying Year 4 so far.
I am enjoying getting to know you all!

Homework will be going out on Friday in your homework books.
Please keep practising your maths skills on Abacus Active Learn, where you have all been allocated games. If you have lost your log-in details just ask Ms Jones for them.

Maths Challenge

Please play Cave Commotion to practise your bonds to 100.

Practising your times tables and reading regularly are essential.
