Reception Mrs Greaves and Mrs Waghorn/Mrs Diaz

Croeso i Dosbarth Mrs. Greaves, Mrs. Waghorn and Mrs. Diaz

This is a very exciting time with all of us starting school for the first time. We hope that everyone will have fun getting to know each other and that school will be an enjoyable and happy environment.

Our topic this term is “All Change” this will include lots of work on ourselves and our families with lots of related texts, fairy tales and traditional stories being used to develop our language and literacy skills.

We will develop our phonic knowledge and begin to build words, write sentences and start reading simple text.

Lots of help at home practising, recognising and writing sounds would be of great use.

Reading books and "phonic practise" homework will be sent home after half term.

Throughout the day there will be lots of chat, conversation and discussions encouraging everyone to speak and talk confidently to each other. We will be reading lots of books together and singing lots of songs helping us to understand language and its conventions.

In maths we will be using lots of numbers around the classroom making us recognise and practise our counting to 20. We will count forwards, backwards, in 2’s and 10’s and begin to recognise doubles. Simple practical addition activities will encourage strategies in finding "how many?"

Whenever possible we will use our outside space to encourage physical and active learning. We will go outside every day so coats will be needed when the weather gets a colder.

Mrs. Pacey will be helping Mrs. Waghorn and Mrs. Diaz and Miss Britton will be helping Mrs Greaves.

This term and Mrs Evans will be teaching in Mrs Greaves class on a Wednesday morning.

Mrs Greaves’ PE days are Tuesday and Thursday, Mrs Waghorn’s /Mrs Diaz's PE will be Wednesday and Thursday.

Exciting news

We will be going on our first trip soon so there will be information on dates, cost and venue.

Quick reminders

The children are all provided with a water bottle to use in the classroom through out the day, however these bottles are not taken into the dining hall at lunch time so if your child is having a packed lunch they will need their own drink from home to accompany their lunch.

Bags

We are very limited for space in our clock room so please no backpacks or bags, we only have room for the lunch bags.

Lets get started!
