  • Pupil Parliaments

We value the voices of our learners and this is formalised through our Pupil Parliaments. Each of our year 5 and 6 children is a member of a parliament, helping to mould every aspect of school life; from helping us achieve our UNCRC Gold Award, to raising money for charities, to building links with the local community and keeping us healthy and environmentally conscious.

    E-Cadettes

These are our school’s digital leaders — they help promote online safety, teach others how to use technology responsibly, and support pupils in becoming confident digital citizens.

    Rights Respecting Schools

In June 2024 we were awarded the UNCRC Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award; the highest and most prestigious award the UNCRC bestow. This year our parliament will be working to further embed our rights respecting ethos throughout the school by taking part in the UNICEF Outright campaign, focusing on international aid and learning how we can help children all around the world to access their rights.

    PTA/ Community

This parliament helps to promote the links between our school and our community such as performing random acts of kindness for local people, and writing articles for local magazine, The Radyr Chain. We also work with our PTA to plan events and raise funds for our school, and steer what this money gets spent on; from outdoor shelters, to playground improvements.

    Voice 21

The Voice 21 Parliament supports all children to develop speaking and listening skills to improve our ability to communicate effectively, build confidence in ourselves and prepares us for our future.

    Respect/ Anti-Racism

We value diversity as a school and take conscious, sustained action to challenge and dismantle racism in all its forms - celebrating our diversity as a school and a community. We are working with the school leadership team to become and anti-racist school.

    Criw Cymraeg

Criw Cymraeg plays a really important role in promoting the Welsh language and culture within our school. We act as language ambassadors, helping to encourage everyone in the school to use more Welsh in their everyday life. We:

-Promote the Welsh language across the school (both inside and outside the classroom).

-Help the school work towards or maintain the Cymraeg Campus Award (Siarter Iaith).

-Encourage a positive attitude towards speaking Welsh — “Cymraeg bob dydd!” (Welsh every day).
